Dr. Alvaro Vives Sune - andrologist, urologist, Puchvert Clinic

Dr. Alvaro Vives Sune is the head of the Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) Unit and resident physician of the Andrology Department at Fundación Puchvert.

He holds a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and has specialized in Andrology since 1999, completing his residency at Fundacia Puchvert.

Main achievements:

In July 2020, he defended his doctoral thesis on “Non-invasive approach to urethral condylomas” with honors. He also holds postgraduate diplomas in STI prevention and control and andrological microsurgery from the University of Barcelona (UB).

Dr. Vives has advised the Department of Health on STIs and has taught in various master's programs including the “Master in International Health and Tropical Medicine” at the University of Barcelona, the “Master in Human Sexuality” and the “Master in Clinical Sexology and Sexual Health” at IESP - University of Barcelona.

He is currently a professor of the “Master in Andrology” program at Fundación Puchvert - Universitat Vic-Central University of Catalonia, and of the “Master in Reproduction Biology and Assisted Reproductive Technologies” at Dexeus.

Main areas of specialization:

His main areas of specialization include non-invasive approach to urethral condylomas, sexual health, human papillomavirus infections and male infertility. He has published numerous scientific articles in national and international journals on andrology, urology and STIs, as well as book chapters on these topics.

Dr. Vives has received several awards, including the best paper at the XVI National Congress of Andrology (2013) and the Ángel Bayo Award for the best clinical case published in the Journal of International Andrology (2011-2012).
